It's Doodle 4 Google time

Google has announced the winner of this year's Doodle 4 Google competition. Artist Sabrina Brady of Sparta, Wisconsin will have her doodle featured on Google's home page on May 23, 2013.

Sabrina is a senior at Sparta High School. In addition to seeing her art on Google, she will also receive a $30,000 college scholarship, a Chromebook computer and a $50,000 technology grant for her school.

I always love Google doodles, and the Doodle 4 Google  competition fits nicely with the youth serving projects that Experience Optimism highlights. According to a press release from Google, the young artist expressed the theme for this competition, "My Best Day Ever...," by sharing the heartfelt moment of being reunited with her dad after his 18-month deployment in Iraq. Through her art and exposure on Google, her  emotion can now be shared by all.

Who needs candy when they've got Google?

Google doodles make me smile and for some reason, I'm finding this Halloween to be a smiley time too. That's why I knew I had to share the Halloween 2012 Google doodle here.

Google Doodles are always an optimistic experience

Absolutely one of my favorite contests, Doodle for Google catches my attention every year. To see the imagination and talent of young students is inspirational. This year the big prize, to be on the Google home page for a day (May 20, 2011) went to Matteo Lopez, 7, of South San Francisco. Additionally, he will receive a netbook, $15,000 college scholarship, and $25,000 technology grant for his school.

There were 107,000 entries this year from K-12 grade students in the United States. See more entries at http://www.google.com/doodle4google/vote.html and enjoy the regional finalists interpretation of "What I'd Like to do Some Day."

I always enjoy the Doodle 4 Google contest. Students K through 12 draw their winsome depictions of the famous Google logo. Please take a few minutes to enjoy the color and happiness that radiates from their drawings.

Recognizing kids is what we do

Please enjoy a short break from Optimist Club projects as we note another awesome opportunity for kids.

Kudos to Google! With their immeasurable reach, they have once again offered an art contest for children in grades K-12 in the US. The program is called Doodle 4 Google. Children are asked to submit their drawings of the famous Google logo incorporating the theme of the year. This year's theme was "What I wish for the World." The national winner for 2009 was Christin Engelberth, Bernard A. Harris Jr High School, San Antonio, TX. Take a look at all US state finalists in the Doodle 4 Google competition. Enjoy!
